# Mobile strategy · 1 October 2026
## Quick scan and repairs
Reviewed the current homepage, desktop map, mobile topics and a complete drill leaf.
The black canvas and distinct panes give the dashboard a clear identity. The main
friction on phones is the amount of fixed chrome above the reading area.
1. Homepage → dashboard: functional. Four statistics had a three-column grid;
they now form two balanced rows. The required identity is restored.
2. Map → country: functional. Summary previews now carry the required identity
and a working original source link. Their links stay reachable on hover/focus.
3. Topics → subtopic → record: functional. Event-type badges no longer inherit
the event-container border and padding. Old snapshots retain report-count
markers when event totals are absent.
4. Switch pane → Back: repaired. Emergence retains ordinary hash history, and
returning to the Topics root clears the previous leaf. The shared xray shell
was not edited.
5. Mobile status: repaired. Identity text stays at least 15px. The rail cannot
shrink away its date, counts or inactive verified status.
The build succeeds. Homepage and emergence reflow at 320/375/1280px in both modes
without horizontal overflow or visible text below 15px. Every static essence card
retains its original source URL, and the snapshot is unchanged. Xray changes in the
generated output are limited to the builder's cache-version URLs.
The scan is limited to these paths. It does not establish complete accessibility
compliance or real-device keyboard/viewport behaviour.
## Mobile shell implemented
The enhanced mobile view uses a 69px identity strip and a 57px bottom dock. Map,
Topics, Ambiguous and Records are primary destinations; More opens a native modal
drawer with Over time, Method, About, the snapshot counts, feeds, spend, Home,
xray, theme switch and linked parent badge. The date, `unverified · AI-distilled`
identity and `0 verified · inactive` remain visible above the working pane. The
verified indicator links directly to the inactive lane. Existing hashes still
address every destination; secondary navigation moves focus to its pane heading.
At 375×812 and 320×812, the working pane has 686px (84.5%) of the viewport.
Both modes fit at 320/375/1280 without horizontal overflow; visible text is at
least 15px. Country → Inspect → Back, the primary destinations, search, the
drawer, theme switch and verified link were checked in the browser. Desktop
retains its site header and status rail; without JavaScript the full stacked
document and native navigation remain. This pass does not establish real-device
keyboard or pinch behaviour.
The mobile map now has a responsive 320–520px viewport (422px at 375×812), local SVG zoom/pan, pinch gestures,
44px zoom/reset controls and a native country picker. Opening country previews
does not shrink the map. Floating hover previews stay on desktop; phones navigate
directly to the country's labelled, source-linked previews. Map navigation returns
to the overview at the top of its pane. The original static map/list remain without
JavaScript.
| Current function | Mobile treatment |
| --- | --- |
| Homepage day portrait | Dated preview with a clear dashboard entry and topic links |
| Map and country previews | Map overview plus a prominent country list; a tap opens the country, with source links in its preview |
| Fractal topic drill | Preserve the portrait and complete topic index; show a short Back control plus the full breadcrumb path |
| Events and member reports | One-column reading; show identity, title and source before report/uncertainty, with context in a disclosure |
| Ambiguous lens | Keep the event-type selector and uncertainty-first order |
| Records and search | Keep complete local search, counts, empty state and topic disclosures |
| Over time | Preserve supplied ongoing-thread data; keep historical comparison explicitly unavailable |
| Method, About and licensing | Reachable from More; preserve feed status, budget, provenance, zero verified records and the footer |
| xray navigation | Preserve the suite link; a later suite-wide mobile pass must retain model selection, case sections, filters and downloads |
Use a single scrolling reading pane with sufficient bottom padding and device
safe-area support. Reserve room for the virtual keyboard without trapping the
search field or results. Tiny tiles must keep visible markers and a named list
alternative; no essential action depends on hovering. Preserve each pane's scroll
position and make Back return predictably through the drill and pane history.
## Next implementation pass
Continue with the topic drill and search reading layouts. Verify short landscape screens,
keyboard opening, Back/Forward, deep links and the plain no-JavaScript document.
Keep the data contract, existing record text, mandatory labels and original source
URLs unchanged. The desktop layout should gain the same routing fixes without
adopting the mobile navigation layout.
